The 10 Principles Of War

There are many ‘common threads’ between military strategy and organizational strategy as we understand it today. Here are the 10 principles of war. Note the similarities.

Maintain the aim. Today in business we say stick to your core competencies remember your vision and mission statement.

Concentration of force. Use your assets wisely and lever them where possible. Prune “the suckers” off the rosebush— they’re sapping the energy from your firm. See my rosebush analogy in the tool section.

The element of surprise. As you pivot to new markets often the elements of surprise will be a key factor in your success. Sometimes conducting operations in the stealth mode is a good tactic.
